To be made ready for ordination, a seminarian must be formed according to the mind of Christ, that he might be a source of light, love, and truth during his priestly ministry.

The Diocese has three different formation programs tailored to a candidate's previous level of education.

High School or College Student Discernment and Formation
Cathedral Prep Seminary in Elmhurst is a high school for young men who feel drawn to the priesthood. College-age students seriously considering priesthood participate in a priestly formation program at Cathedral Seminary Residence and usually pursue courses at St. John's University.
