The Diocesan Tribunal serves as an extension of the Bishop's ministry
of justice in the world. The Church has a long tradition of maintaining its own legal system, called
"canon law"; the Tribunal is, in effect, the "court" for that system.
Much of our work surrounds the process of marriage annulment, an often misunderstood concept.
We hope these pages will clarify what an annulment is, and answer most of your questions. The Tribunal
also works to resolve questions of authority and jurisdiction within the Church, and serves to protect
the rights of both institutions and individuals.
