Our Purpose
The purpose of the Catholic Committee on Scouting is to promote Catholic Scouting as a way of ministering
to the youth of the Diocese of Brooklyn. The scouting program is recognized as an integral part of the
total youth ministry, on the diocesan and parish levels.
Our Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the committee: to promote scouting ideals and values that are the Christian
foundation desperately needed by youth; to make the scouts aware of their responsibility to God, family,
and neighbors; to encourage the development of a Christian conscience in the scouts; and to give consideration
to religious careers.
The committee sponsors events in the Diocese, and administers the religious awards for Catholic scouts,
both boys and girls.
