PURPOSE
The Certificate in Ministry is intended for those persons who have completed the two-year Lay Leadership Formation for Ministry Program and who wish a more in-depth preparation for a particular ministry. The process, usually lasting from six to nine months, includes the following components:
Seminar
Ministry Practicum
Pastoral Skills Workshops
Theological Reflection
GOALS
The Certificate in Ministry Program will provide the participant with a variety of experiences that will enable her/him to:
Discern one's call to a particular ministry.
Understand the theological teachings and rituals that are foundational to ministry.
Realize that effective ministry involves using our unique gifts.
Assess one's strengths and limitations in collaboration with a supervisor skilled in ministry and with members of the parish staff.
Develop the pastoral skills necessary for the ministry of one's choice.
Come together with other persons in the same ministry for the purpose of theological reflection.
Develop a support system with colleagues in ministry.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Attendance at one of the information sessions where the program will be explained in detail.
Dialogue with one's pastor concerning the ministry of choice.
Approval from the pastor to participate in the Certificate in Ministry Program.
Completion of application forms for the Pastoral Institute
