Marriage is one of God's greatest gifts
and one of love's most dynamic mysteries.
Congratulations! If you've
found your way to this page you are engaged and planning on being
married within the Catholic Church.
In order to help you and your fiancé
strengthen your relationship as you look toward your life together, the Church
provides a marriage preparation program known as Pre-Cana. The program's name is
taken from the Gospel story in which Jesus joins in the sacred celebration of a
wedding in Cana. By turning water into wine for the wedding guests, Jesus
stressed both the celebratory and transformative nature of marriage.
The Pre-Cana program
also focuses on these aspects of married life. By meeting with other engaged
couples in a group setting facilitated by a husband and wife team, you and your
partner will be able to learn about the many resources the Church has to offer
you as a married couple. The Pre-Cana sessions also provide both of you with
important opportunities to learn about communication skills, family planning,
and to deepen your own spiritual lives both as individuals and as a couple.
There are a variety of different scheduling options for your participation in
the Pre Cana program. Some meet on weekends, some meet once a week, while others
are retreat-based. You can explore which form of Pre-Cana best suits your
personal schedule and preparation needs by clicking on www.pre-cana.org
