Ecuminical Dialogue
Catholic-Lutheran
Catholic-Orthodox

The Catholic-Lutheran dialogue was started in 1969.  The dialogue has focused on various theological subjects such as the papacy, our respective understandings of the nature of Grace, the Sacraments, the Incarnation and Justification.  The dialogue has discussed such Church documents as "The Decree on Ecumenism Vatican II," "That All May Be One" and "Dominus Jesus."

Rev. William Baum, a Lutheran pastor from Howard Beach, represents the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  Rev. Baum is joined by Pastor Craig Miller and Jay Long.  The Roman Catholic Church is represented by Mr. Stephen Rzonca, Msgr. Guy Massie and Fr. John Cush.

This dialogue has sponsored afternoons of study for our respective clergy on the Joint Declaration of Justification by Faith.  This Document was ratified by the World Lutheran Federation and the Roman Catholic Church in October 1998.

This dialogue meets every other month.
