Services
Catholic Cemeteries provides a wide variety
of options to serve the needs of all families. Families may choose
from:
- individual or family grave sites
- lawn crypts
- community or family mausoleum space
- cremation grave sites and niches.
Cremation
The Church continues to stress the
long-standing practice of traditional burial. However, due to particular
circumstances, cremation may be chosen by Catholics and can be a sensitive
pastoral alternative.
- Families choosing cremation should avail
themselves of the full course of the Order of Christian Funerals: the Vigil
Service, the Funeral Liturgy, and the Rite of Committal.
- If possible, the Church prefers that the
body be present during the Funeral Liturgy; however, cremated remains may now
be permitted.
- Cremated remains are to be treated with
the same respect given to the body and should be buried or entombed,
preferably in a Catholic cemetery. Scattering, dividing, or keeping cremated
remains in the home is not the reverent disposition the Church
requires.
Why do families pre-plan their
needs?
- Pre-planning allows for peace of mind,
allowing families and friends to grieve and avoid those difficult decisions at
a most difficult time.
- It allows for the most flexibility with
regard to choice of location/options.
- Sites can be purchased at today's cost
with a minimum down payment and installments spread over a number of
years.
