Dear Friends of our Children,
Children are the best investment I can think of; that is universal
thinking – one of those things we all can agree on.
Involvement with The
Futures in Education Foundation, Inc. is an investment in the children who attend the
parochial elementary schools of Brooklyn and
Queens. The question I want to help you to consider is why you
should invest in these children; why I believe it is worth my while to work on
their behalf, and why I encourage you to join with us to assist an amazing group
of young people?
From pre-school through the early numbered grades, the spirit of the
children is overwhelming. These future leaders exemplify hope, faith,
love, and an eagerness to learn. These children know that the road to a
successful life is paved with curiosity and a love of learning that is tempered
by the knowledge that this learning comes through study, but most of all
listening.
Some of the children come
to the school already with a spark in their eyes and a thirst for knowledge;
many of them gain this love of learning through their exposure to faculty
members who shine as brightly as the morning sun. The parochial school
faculty in Brooklyn and Queens often stay for 10, 20, or 40 years;
because for them, this is a mission, not a job.
Visiting the young ones in the schools allows me the privilege of seeing
into the future – this yearning for knowledge continues on into the middle and
later grades. It is with confidence that we know these children are
prepared for high school and a successful, well-balanced life. They will
know their studies, but they will also know that they have come into this world
with a duty to seek out truth and to contribute to their community and the world
around them. These often intangible attributes are heavily reinforced by
the faculty and school leadership.
The students that I am
speaking of, those that are the beneficiaries of your generosity and the mission
of Futures come to
us from families whose average income is less than $24,000 per year. With
your help, their families pay their tuition because they want something better
for their children.
As
you look at our web site, please consider being part of this remarkable mission
– be an Angel, join our School-Business Partnership program, or support the
Futures Scholarship Fund (with matching gift possibilities). When you have
the opportunity, visit our schools and see first hand exactly what your
contributions can do – you will look back on your involvement with Futures and
with the children as the best investment you ever made.
