SENIOR HIGH YOUTH
DAY
The Office of Religious Education is pleased to announce its second annual
Senior High Diocesan Youth Day Celebration that will be held on
Saturday, April 29, at the Immaculate Conception Center in
Douglaston, from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The purpose of the day is to gather high school-age youth from
throughout our Diocese to celebrate their faith through prayer, workshops and
the celebration of the Eucharist at 5 p.m. with Bishop DiMarzio as the main
celebrant. The day will include a mid-day snack and dinner for all who
attend.
Fr. Stan Fortuna will give the main talk of the day. Father Stan is a member of
the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and has extensive experience working with
youth as a dynamic speaker and rap artist. (See his Web site for more
information: www.francescoproductions.com) The workshops that follow are
based on our theme “Christ, We Proclaim,” providing teens an opportunity to
examine ways we proclaim our faith in daily life.
A generous grant from the “Alive and Hope” Foundation has allowed us to keep
costs as minimal as possible. The cost for the day is $15 per
participant. Please click on the link for a copy of a registration
cover sheet for youth group leaders that should be returned with the “Combined
Consent and Health” form to the Office of Religious Education with a check
covering the number of participants.
Please note that seating at Douglaston is limited. As a result, we will honor
requests for registration on a first come, first serve basis. For this
reason, please return the registration tally sheet to the Religious Education
Office with the corresponding payment as soon as possible to ensure that your
youth will participate.
