As part of the educational ministry of the Diocese of
Brooklyn, the Office of Religious Education, Evangelization, and Catholic Formation serves the people
of the Diocese by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. We believe that a person’s faith becomes living,
conscious, and active through the light of instruction and formation.
To
accomplish this mission, we
- Promote ongoing evangelization,
formation and religious education for people of all ages.
- Support programs which enhance
worship, ministry, and community-building for the people of
God including parish religious education for children,
youth, adults, youth ministry, RCIA and campus ministry.
-
Provide
ongoing formation and professional development as well as
make available the best educational resources for proclaiming the Good News.
A MESSAGE FROM THE DIOCESAN
DIRECTOR
The Office of Religious Education
and Evangelization is committed to ensuring the proclamation
of the Gospel in the Diocese of Brooklyn so that faith may be
planted, nurtured and challenged to grow. In keeping
with the mandates of the Church since the Second Vatican
Council, the Office promotes the life-long education of all
Catholics in the faith – children, youth, young adults and
adults. The staff of the Office provides the leadership,
training and support to parish catechetical leaders to help
them in their efforts “to make disciples, to help people
believe that Jesus is the Son of God so that believing they
might have life in his name, and to educate and instruct them
in this life, thus building up the body of Christ” (Catechism
of the Catholic Church 4). We ask God to bless our
efforts.
