Before admission,
the associate superintendent, the field supervisor, and the teacher review
the students current Individual Educational Program (I.E.P.). If the
program can accommodate a students special needs, a screening will be
arranged. During screenings we view the students basic readiness and
practical academic development. We also observe the students
socialization, interaction, communication, self-care and thinking process. Based on the
screening process and teacher observation we determine how we would supplement
and improve good I.E.P. goals and objectives.
Admissions Procedure 1. The parent or guardian contacts
the Special Education Program Satellite Office. 2. The most current IEP is
sent to the Office. 3. If classification is appropriate, and there are no
obvious problems, the IEP is forwarded to the appropriate teacher for
evaluation. 4. Teacher will arrange a screening session with parents.
There is a $35 screening fee that is the responsibility of the parent. 5. The
student will also be evaluated by the speech teacher, if possible. This
will be done during the initial screening. 6. If a student is
accepted, the parent must come into the Special Education Office to fill out the
required forms. Parents must bring immunization records and two separate
checks: payment for the $20 PROSPER dues and the $50 registration
fee.
