Current Annual Appeal

Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience ... striving to preserve the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace:  one body and one Spirit ... one Lord, one faith, one baptism ... (Ephesians 4:1-5)

As we begin our 2008 Annual Catholic Appeal, I ask you to reflect on this year’s theme:  United in Faith, Sharing in Love.   Your generosity plays a special role in the success of the Catholic Appeal.

So that this year’s Catholic Appeal can carry on its significant impact on our people and our faith, we must rely on the compassion of parishioners like you.  It is my hope that you will unite in faith and share love with our Catholic family and all others in need.  I ask you to prayerfully consider making the most generous gift you can.

By expressing your unity in faith with all Catholics and sharing in love with your brothers and sisters in Christ, you can help to change lives by supporting the ministries that serve the needs of others in Brooklyn and Queens.

With an assurance of my remembrance of you in prayer and with the hope that you will once again open your hearts in support of this year’s Appeal, I am

Sincerely in Christ,

Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Ph.D., D.D.
Bishop of Brooklyn

Bishop's Court of Honor

The Court of Honor is a special alliance of Catholic men and women who have come together with the Bishop to play a unique community leadership role in the work of the Church. Their willingness to share their God-given gifts with the Annual Appeal helps the Bishop spread our faith throughout the diocese by way of a multitude of ministries, programs and services.

If you are a Court of Honor member, please visit our online 2007 Reception Photo Album to view and print your photograph with Bishop DiMarzio.

Loving and merciful Father, giver of all good gifts, we ask your blessing on this year's Annual Catholic Appeal

Strenthen and inspire us as we strive to encourage vocations, to expand our ministries of service to the immigrant, the poor and marginalized members of our society and to educate and form the next generation of disciples through our schools and religious educations programs.

United in Faith and Sharing in Love, we acknowledg our total dependence upon you. Give success to the work of our hands.

We ask this, as we ask you everything, through Christ our Lord.

Amen
