The Parmentier sisters, Adele and Rosine (l-r). Adele's husband, Edward Bayer, is also shown in this photo from the late 1840's. Their parents, Andre and Sylvia Parmentier, were among the first benefactors of the Church in Brooklyn. Andre was one of the first trustees of St. James Cathedral. The family supported many charitable works over the years. In 1908, the Parmentier estate on Bridge Street in Brooklyn was willed to the Sisters of St. Joseph. It now houses St. Joseph's Commercial High School.
