PARENTS, DOCTORS TO RECEIVE DIOCESAN PRO VITA
AWARDS (Jan. 22, 2004) A Long Island woman who rejected advice that she
abort a child afflicted with a fatal genetic condition will receive a Pro Vita
Award at the Diocese of Brooklyn's 18th annual Sanctity of Life Mass in the
chapel of the Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston, Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2

DIOCESE RELEASES REPORT
ON
CHARTER COMPLIANCE (Jan. 6, 2004) Bishop Nicholas
DiMarzio released today (Jan. 6) a summary report, issued by the U.S. Conference
of Catholic Bishops, on the Diocese of Brooklyn's compliance with the 17
articles contained in the bishops' 2002 Charter for the Protection of Children
and Young People.

DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN U.S. CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS (Jan. 6,
2004) The Diocese of Brooklyn, which was established in 1853, encompasses two
counties, consists of 217 parishes and missions, 548 diocesan priests, one minor seminary, three colleges/universities,

schools (149 elementary and 20 high schools), and serves a population of
1,842,642 Catholics.
