CARDINAL DULLES TO ADDRESS
Avery Cardinal Dulles, the prominent Jesuit theologian, will deliver the keynote address at a Diocese of Brooklyn convocation on the New Evangelization at the Immaculate Conception Center, 7200 Douglaston Pkwy., Douglaston, Saturday, Dec. 4. Cardinal Dulles will speak at 11 a.m. and Bishop Nicholoas DiMarzio will address the convocation at 1 p.m., according to Msgr. Francis J. Caggiano, Vicar for Evangelization and Pastoral Life.
The day-long event will draw representatives and potential members of 21 adult and youth eccesial movements to afternoon workshops, he said.
The groups will include Disciples in Mission, Pro Sanctity, Neo-Catechumenate, Communion and Liberation, Christian Awakening, English and Spanish Cursillo, English, Spanish and Creole Charismatic Renewal, RENEW, Apostolate for Family Consecration, Worldwide Marriage Encounter, Focolare, Lamp Ministries, Legion of Mary, Escuela de Evangelizacion, Jornada, Jovenes de Valor, Youth 2000NY and Life Teen.
The New Evangelization was the theme of Bishop DiMarzio's first pastoral letter to the faithful of the Diocese, issued in October on his first anniversary as Bishop of Brooklyn. It was inspired by the apostolic letter of Pope John Paul II, "Novo Millenio Ineunte," which called for enriching the faith of believers who then become evangelizers.
