JOINT PRAYER SERVICE SET ON LEBANON AND ITS PEOPLE
The Eparchy of St. Maron of Brooklyn and the Diocese of Brooklyn will sponsor a first-ever joint interfaith prayer service for Lebanon at Our Lady of Lebanon Cathedral, 109 Remsen St., Brooklyn, Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m.
Bishop Gregory J. Mansour of the Eparchy of St. Maron and Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio have invited Christian, Muslim and Jewish leaders “to come together to pray in this special service” for peace in the Middle East.
In a statement, the two prelates said that Lebanon “has served as a model of dialogue and conviviality between cultures and religions. This tiny country, struggling to maintain its East/West identity, is still able to keep its balance and remain free from terror.”
The statement said the prayer service for Lebanon would serve to “support this country and its people, and to see a good come from this recent devastating war on its soil.”
