OFFERS PASTORAL AID ON CLAIMS OF ABUSE
As part of its ongoing effort to adhere to the “Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People,” issued by the U.S. Catholic bishops in 2002, the Diocese of Brooklyn has a Victims Assistance Coordinator who provides pastoral counseling to persons who claim that a clergyman abused them as a minor.
Amityville Dominican Sister Ellen Patricia Finn, associate executive director of Catholic Charities, serves in the post. She may be contacted at (718) 722-6050. Early this year, the Office for Child and Youth Protection of the U.S. bishops in Washington cited her as one of ten model coordinators from among her peers in the 195 dioceses in the country.
