BISHOP ASKS FOR SUPPORT FOR HURRICANE VICTIMS
Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio has asked the pastors and administrators of the 216 parishes in Brooklyn and Queens to consider taking a collection at weekend Masses to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The donations will be sent to Catholic Charities USA, which has been commissioned by the U.S. Catholic bishops to represent the Catholic community in times of domestic disaster, and to the affected dioceses.
The Bishop, urging parishioners to keep the victims of the hurricane in their prayers, said: “We remain united in prayer with our brothers and sisters who are suffering at this time.
