PRIESTLY ORDINATION

SET FOR QUEENS MAN

 

            Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio will ordain Father Robert E. Keighron to the priesthood for the Diocese of Brooklyn at St. James Cathedral Basilica, Brooklyn, Saturday, July 1, at 11 a.m.

 

            The son of Robert and Patricia Keighron of Ozone Park, he was born in Astoria Dec. 3, l980. He attended Nativity School, Ozone Park; Archbishop Molloy High School, Briarwood; Cathedral Seminary Residence, Douglaston, and St. John’s University, Jamaica.

 

            After receiving his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from St. John’s, he continued his studies in Rome at the North American College, and earned a bachelor’s degree in sacred theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University and a licentiate in sacred theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross.

 

            During two summers in between school years in Rome, he did apostolic work at two Queens parishes: St. Bartholomew’s in Elmhurst and Presentation in Jamaica.

 

            Father Keighron will celebrate his First Mass of Thanksgiving in Nativity Church, Ozone Park, Sunday, July 2, at noon. Msgr. Robert J. Thelen, Nativity’s pastor, will preach the homily.

 

The principal concelebrants will be retired Auxiliary Bishop Rene A. Valero, Bishop-elect Octavio Cisneros and Fathers Francis A. Colamaria, Angelo B. Pezzullo and Edward M. Kachurka.       

 

A parish reception will follow the Mass.

 

Father Keighron will be the second priest ordained for the Diocese this year. Bishop DiMarzio ordained Father Wladyslaw Z. Kubrak in St. James Cathedral Basilica on June 3. He has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Catharine of Alexandria parish in Borough Park, effective June 30.
