TO TRAIN FACILITATORS

FOR VIRTUS WORKSHOPS

Sharon Womack Doty, an attorney and child sexual abuse prevention consultant, will train 40 persons in the Diocese to lead abuse awareness workshops for adults at a two-day course to be given at 310 Prospect Park West, Brooklyn, Thursday and Friday, June 24-25, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Among the persons to be trained as facilitators will be representatives of the Hispanic, Polish, Creole, Chinese and Korean communities, said Sister Jane Ann Scanlon, C.N.D., who chairs the diocesan Committee for Education Toward an Awareness and Prevention of Sexual Abuse.

Using the “VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children” training program for facilitators, Doty will show attendees how to present the subject matter, lead group discussions and incorporate diocesan policies and procedures into the sessions they will conduct.
