BISHOP TO ORDAIN
POLISH-BORN PRIEST

 

            Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio will ordain Father Wladyslaw Z. Kubrak to the priesthood for the Diocese of Brooklyn at St. James Cathedral Basilica, Brooklyn, Saturday, June 3, at 11 a.m.

 

A native of Poland, Father Kubrak was born June 27, 1957 in Siemianowice Slaskie. The son of Helena Kalinska of Poland and the late Ibigniew Kubrak, he attended elementary and high schools in Sosnowiec and Czestochowa respectively.

 

            After high school graduation he served two years in the Polish army. He emigrated to the United States in l986 and during the 1990s taught the Polish language at New Utrecht High School, Brooklyn.

 

            In 2000 Father Kubrak earned a bachelor of arts degree from the College of New Rochelle and that year began pre-theology studies at Cathedral Residence of the Immaculate Conception in Douglaston. A year later, he began theology studies at the Immaculate Conception Seminary, Huntington. He spent his pastoral year at St. Clare’s parish in Rosedale.

 

            Ordained a transitional deacon last December, he assisted on weekends at St. Sebastian’s Church, Woodside.

 

            Father Kubrak will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving in Our Lady of Czenstochowa-St. Casimir’s Church, Brooklyn, Sunday, June 4, at 11 a.m. Msgr. Octavio Cisneros, rector of Cathedral Seminary Residence, will preach the homily.

 

            A reception will follow in the parish hall.
